I’m still interested to know why Google’s didn’t try to integrate the viewing cube into the glasses themselves, only because at certain angles you’ll likely get some pretty intense glare and reflections from two reflective sources. Even so, I’m looking forward to the day when this actually rolls out and fellow glasses-wearing techies can join in the Google Glass craze.

Google Earth 7 dengan Tour Guide dan 3D Imagenary

Belum lama ini Google earth telah merilis versi terbaru, Google Earth 7 dengan beberpa penambahan fitur dan tentu perbaikan dari versi sebelumnya. Google eaerth tersedia untuk Windows, Linux dan Mac termasuk untuk desktop (PC), Gadget (mobile) dan juga untuk web browser menggunakan Google Earth Plugin.

Google earth 7 yang ririlis resmi tanggal 1 NOvember 2012 kemarin disertakan beberapa fitur baru, yaitu Tour guide dan 3D Imagenary. Setelah menginstall Google earth versi 7 dan dijalankan, maka di bagian bawah akan tampil Tour Guide dan tersedia berbagai tempat yang bisa dilihat, sesuai dengan map atau peta yang sedang kita lihat.

Misalnya kita sedang melihat wilayah Kalimantan, maka Bagian Tour guide akan menampilkan berbagai tempat (wisata atau tempat menarik lainnya) yang langsung bisa di klik untuk melihat lebih dekat. Tetapi tentu ini butuh koneksi internet yang lumayan, terutama jika tempat yang kita kunjungi tersedia tampilan dalam 3D (plus memerlukan kartu grafis komputer yang cukup).

Untuk fitur 3D Imagenary, pada versi sebelumnya sudah tersedia berbagai tempat yang menampilkan (hampir) seluruh kota dalam bentuk 3D, semisal untuk wilayah berikut : Boulder
Boston, Charlotte, Denver, Lawrence, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Portland, San Antonio, San Diego, Santa Cruz, Seattle, Tampa, Tuscon, Rome dan San Francisco Bay Area. Sedangkan Untuk versi 7 ini Google menambahkan beberapa tempat baru, yaitu Avignon, France; Austin, Texas; Munich, Germany; Phoenix, Arizona; and Mannheim, Germany. Dan seperti kita lihat, memang belum ada kota untuk wilayah Indonesia.

Ketika download langsung melalui halaman google download, maka yang di download merupakan online installer (untuk menginstall google earth memerlukan koneksi internet). Meski itu mungkin tidak masalah bagi sebagian kita, kadang kita memerlukan offline installer yang bisa kita install kapan saja dan di komputer mana saja.

Caranya kunjungi halaman download Google earth, kemudian dibagian sebelum tombol persetujuan download, klik bagian Customize your installation of Google Earth with advanced setup untuk menampilkan menu pilihan. Hilangkan tanda check “Allow Google Earth to automatically install recommended updates.” setelah itu baru klik tombol Agree and Download, maka kita akan mendapatkan Google Earth versi offline intaller yang besarnya sekitar 23.2 MB.

A new version of the Google News mobile website has arrived for Android and iOS devices. Rolling out over the next few days, the mobile experience gets a UI punch-up that falls more closely in line with the desktop browser version. As is often the case, the United States will be the first market to see the changes. To get the new-look Google News website simply point your Chrome browser to news.google.com!

• Improved overall look-and-feel making it easier to read and track separate stories.


• Ability to customize the webapp to suit your taste by changing the theme from light to dark, the font size and opting for a larger “story card” with more information per story at your fingertips (from the Settings menu, at top right).


• Simplified navigation to any section within News; just click on the Google News icon (top left) to see a list of available sections (including any custom sections you created).


• Easier integration with Google Feedback located in the menu at the top right.

Additionally we have ensured that some favorite desktop features have been included such as:

• A weather gadget in the Local section.


• The popular “Editors Picks” option.


• Social posts from Google + related to the story are included in the article cluster.

Android 4 4 For Galaxy Nexus Is Available Now Take That Google!

When Google announced its newest build of Android, what we now know to be Android 4.4 KitKat, we were very surprised to hear that the Galaxy Nexus would not be receiving an update from Google itself. This was not only surprising because the Galaxy Nexus is the next most recent Nexus device after the Nexus 4, but also because Google made waves with its assurance that Android 4.4 would run on devices with only 512MB RAM, a criteria that the Galaxy Nexus meets comfortably. Understandably, owners of the phone were understandably upset, but not to be deterred, some determined developers over at XDA have knocked out a CyanogenMod 11 ROM for the Galaxy Nexus which will give the phone some of that KitKat goodness.

The ROM is technically still in beta due to some “missing common [CyanogenMod] features”, but other than some minor issues with the camera and screenshot functions, the ROM looks like it is stable and works pretty well.
